Expenses on a long contract

Expenses on a long contract

Didn't find your answer?

A client sent a member of staff to Ireland for a contract. Contract was for 6 months but then ran for about 11 months when the contract was terminated. The company paid for the accommodation and flights etc and has reimbursed the staff member for food costs whilst in Ireland.

The accommodation and flights I am comfortable with but the food not so much. I understand being away from home for a few days and claiming food expenses but 11 months is a long time. It just doesn’t seem to be clear cut what is “reasonable”.

What is the best way to treat this?

The same as accommodation.
