Finding a Company UTR for a newly formed company

Didn't find your answer?

Does anyone know the quickest way to learn of a newly formed company UTR?

I have a newly formed company acting as a subcontractor who is going to get 30% tax knocked off instead of the usual. HMRC will take between 1 to 3 months to send this out in their normal way. I'm tempted to get the client in and we'll phone HMRC together as the 64-8 won't have been processed yet.

Post

As agent, I've phoned HMRC and requested that they send the UTR to the client by post. In my experience they won't provide it over the phone, only by post, and only to the clients address. You may be lucky though and get a helpful person on the phone.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will try that one, although I suspect they will make us wait until the normal method churns out the UTR

HMRC never tells UTR numbers over the phone. Only by post. Best case scenario is where they confirm the correct number.
