Finding out what a CCJ is for

Finding out what a CCJ is for

Didn't find your answer?

Dear all

I have found that some of our client's have active CCJ's (county court judgements) against them after carrying out a credit check on them. Most of these clients were not aware they had a CCJ and wanted us to find out what it was for.

The only piece of information we can get from the report is the case number and the name of the court. We have tried ringing the courts but it is proving to be very hard to get through to them and can be very time consuming.

Has anyone come across any good websites/phone numbers where we can find out what a CCJ is for?

I will be most obliged to hear the experiences and views of other users.

I don't think there is a free online resource.

I last checked one at Bradford County Court and I got the information within a couple of minutes.

Get the client to do it

It's their CCJ, and are they really so lax that they didn't know they had one or what it was for?

I assume you are not being paid to do this work.

I know this doesn't happen to everyone, but...

A CCJ was issued against my credit rating by Experian in error. It was for somebody with the same name. I knew nothing about it until I was rejected for a mobile phone contract and subsequently looked at my credit report.

@mrme89

Did you expect your mobile phone provider to find out what the CCJ was for, or did you sort it out yourself?

Get the lazy so and so's to do it themselves, else you'll end up being an unpaid lackey.

All I got told by the phone provider is we can't offer you credit due to your credit rating. I wouldn't have expected them to do anything.

I subsequently got a Experian report that showed a CCJ. I was told if I signed up to the Experian premium service they could sort it. After 6 months, all I got from them was "You need to find out who it should be for and get them to write to us". Brilliant!

After around 12 months I managed to get it removed from my credit rating.
