Didn't find your answer?

Hi, I worked in switzerland for 7 months for a swiss company. From my salary deductions were made for income tax ,social security, unemployment insurance, pension, accident insurance. I am filing uk tax return as i was uk resident. would like to know if i can clain uk tax relief for all these or will it be for income tax only ? I did not remit any money to UK.

thanks

If you are UK domiciled then the remittance basis is irrelevant.  If you are not then there are certain conditions to benefit from the remittance basis.  You can only offset Swiss income tax (and not the other taxes) up to the UK tax rate which presumably is higher than the UK rate but I have not checked.

How about swiss pension contributions and expenses incurred while travelling and staying in switzerland. Will that be taken into consideration for tax relief ? Thanks
