Giant advert

Giant advert

Didn't find your answer?

Why is there a giant advert on Aweb pushing the screen down? If I was the kind of person who finds that kind of thing annoying I'd be annoyed right now.

Hacked?

There's no giant ad on my screen. Has your browser been hijacked by a computer virus?

I don't think so

Not unless TaxCalc have unleashed a 'huge banner ad virus'. But if it's just me that sees it then you may have a point.

I've got it too.

It fills up half the screen and then continues behind AW. It's really annoying.

Annoying, yes

But also very unattractive. Who designs these things thinking they will appeal?

Also extends

As it occupies the border, it also extends all the way down the page as well. If you inadvertently click on the black border either side of the page it's still the advert link.

Great!

Seems I'm virus-free, which is always a relief.

Andy, at least it doesn't say awesome!

Image is of a pin up style woman in a red dress with some of her skirt caught in the filing cabinet. She looks surprised.

Time to get some kind of ad-blocker add on for my browser I think. It's really annoying!

Monsoon

I've tried a couple of ad blockers in the past. They worked fine but they also seemed to stop some sites working altogether.

Ad Blockers

I'm generally not in favour of ad-blockers, as free sites such as this one depend on ad revenue to pay their costs. But when an ad becomes this intrusive, it makes me seriously consider my position.

Thanks for your feedback - it's really valuable and we appreciate any comments we get. We'll bear it in mind for the future.

We've slightly tweaked the ad so it should be slightly less prominent. We run these kinds of ads every now and again and it's only running until midnight.

Once again apologies if it caused you any inconvenience and thanks for the feedback.

Hope the fee paid was worth it to Sift

But I found it annoying too.

It sounds like it's done what ads do.......

make people take notice.

We can't expect a free forum, without some form of "cost"?

What ad?

My cost is the time I spend answering questions on the forum.

I have only two other words to say on the subject - Firefox & Adblock.

I dd make a post too but on the correct forum, in time out on the discussiona board, not really a topic for any answers - having any answers clogged up by non-technical posts is almost as annoying as giant ads.

I apologise to everyone for the annoying misplacement of my post.

I should have posted in the correct forum, in Accountingweb feedback on the discussion board - having time out clogged up by feedback related posts is almost as annoying as giant ads. Or would be if I was the kind of person who gets annoyed by that kind of thing :p
