Google Play income and the ECSL

Google Play income and the ECSL

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client who has made a small amount of income from an App for sale on Google Play.

I assume this is B2B sale under the reverse EU charge.  However I cannot find anywhere in their Google Play account the details of the Google country or VAT number.

If anyone can point me in the correct direction I would very much appreciate it!

Thank you in advance.

Does this help?

The list at https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/table/3539140 indicates the distributor for UK developers is Google Commerce Ltd, who are based in Ireland. You can probably find their VAT number somewhere.

In their developer agreement (https://play.google.com/about/developer-distribution-agreement.html) Google state that they only act as the supplier in regions where they are required to collect and remit VAT, in other regions the developer is the merchant and is responsible for sales tax. You can see in which regions Google handles the tax here - https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/138000

All of which makes the Google Play store a mess to deal with.

BTW I'm not an accountant, I'm an app developer, so don't ask me how to use this information but if you figure it out I'd love to hear the answer.
