I have a new client whose accounts were not filed on time by the previous accountant. Does the client have grounds to appeal the filing penalty notice? Or is it worth the client claiming against the previous accountant. Previous accountant member of ACCA, according to their website. Any advise greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Companies House
won't be interested in the slightest. The only recourse will be against the accountant
Agreed
........with Cloudcounter. Companies House would not listen, have tried that myself.
Previous accountant
Anorther agreement with cloudcounter, however would try and understand the situation regarding late filing, was it previous accountant didn't file on time, or was it client didn't provide records in sufficient time or somewhere in between.
Client will no doubt blame previous accountant but if realistically their fault, then any recourse unlikely to be worthwhile.
