Has Caseware failed with FRS 102 update?

Has Caseware failed with FRS 102 update?

Didn't find your answer?

I am interested in soliciting opinions from the Accounting Web community on Caseware's update for FRS 102.  A company I am working with purchased it well ahead of their year end to ease the production of individual and consolidated accounts for a medium sized group.

The level of problems we are experiencing is wholly unacceptable, from the simple (sub-totals not working) to the baffling (restating PY numbers on entering CY TB).  Despite numerous emails, telephone messages we are no further forward to resolving these issues and are having to revert to production of the accounts in word to give the auditors something to review.

At the moment Caseware is refusing to accept any liability for releasing a product which is not fit for purpose i.e, it cannot produce a set of accounts.  Additional costs are being incurred by the company as a direct result of casewares failures.

Are other members also experiencing the same issues?  Are you managing to get your queries resolved?

I would also be interested in hearing opinions as to how other accounts preparation software packages have responded to a well documented and long standing change to UK GAAP.

ditto

I thought it was me, but the accounts it produced were obviously very wrong. But I don't really know what they are meant to look like, but I am pretty sure it's not like that.

To be fair to Caseware, I left a message and they called me back, but I'm not sure they realised how bad they were, and he told me I had to type in the nominal descriptions on the face of the P&L, which struck me as being highly unlikely, and since that call I have noticed that they have all been overwritten already with 'admin spare' and so you need to go through each one to undo the overwrite.

He suggested we go on one of their courses, which I suppose is unfortunately the only way to work out what to do.

Caseware technical support has been on my speed dial for the last month.

I've been emailing colleagues with all the things that are wrong... they've blocked me eventually.

Run a set of accounts through Checker - The amount of missing items, errors and just plain 'doesn't work' is horrendous.

It's not like  they haven't had time to sort this!

Support ... what support?

I thought it was just ourselves that appear to be blocked.  We have left messages but no one is returning them.  You can't get hold of anyone at Caseware, they appear to have gone into lock down.

It makes a mockery of the award they have been so keen to publish.

We too ...

.... have just produced or first set of FRS102 accounts with Caseware and they are garbage. Really basic stuff too.

We haven't yet tackled them with the problems, and I'm now not looking forward to it very much!

Not fit for purpose and no support

The FRS 102 templates are a work in progress and should not have been released.

Their AuditAdvanced template is also a work in progress.

Support are not taking calls. Any messages left are not being answered.

We are going to demand a refund.

Endless issues - Disclosures, formating, FRS 102section A !!

We have had endless issues on preparing our stats, example of issues faced : disclosures not correct, even simple things like formatting, Fixed Asset Total showing negative, unable to edit, add double under-lines, Page break issues, Incorrect First  time adoption note and list goes on...............also section 1A of FRS 102 not yet out for the C/w version.  Despite various phone calls, messages, emails, even tried sending files to them for getting It fixed.. <No end of issues for us> , specially for the first time adoption year, when you have many things to worry about, we are spending more time on phoning, correcting tiny errors, issues and spending hours on fixing small issues!

Not very Happy! Disappointed  with poor release and performance of Casware !!

Sounds like Auditman for those old enough to remember it

For those of us oldies, it sounds like the fiasco that caused the downfall of CSM's Auditman and Taxman programs in the late 1990's.  They made a right dog's breakfast of their update from dos to windows at the same time as self assessment.  Same story, support wouldn't take calls, complete denial of their problems, continually blaming the user for having low spec computers, wrong network, user error, etc.  All caused by what sounds like the same, being a botched update that wasn't tested properly.  CSM didn't survive long as there was an exodus to other software providers!

Me too

I didn't really need to update to FRS102/FRS015 as all mine are "small", and really regretting I did now.

I have got 2 sets of accounts on the go, and it takes 3 days for them to call back.

Having said that, each time I have emailed to suggest they really need to call me back now, I seemingly get an phone call almost instantly.

I am doing pretty simple accounts, and am struggling.

I have finally got to the stage of generating the iXBRL and it isn't tagging the company name or period end date.

I also have a filing deadline at the end of this month for one of them, so will be getting cross come Monday if I haven't heard from them by the close of play.

I did call Iris with a view to changing over, but the cost of that is plain bonkers.
