Has HMRC's Authorise Client process changed or am I going mad?

Has HMRC's Authorise Client process changed or...

Didn't find your answer?

I've entered half a dozen authorisation codes today but the clients aren't showing in my list.  Is there a time lag that I haven't noticed before?

Granted this month I am mainly entering self assessment codes and then trying to submit the return there an then, whereas in previous months I've entered a VAT code or CT code and haven't immediately needed to use that service.  But I can't tell if it's always been like this or if something has changed!

24 hours

It usually takes 24 hours. However, I recently added a Vat authorisation code and the client appeared straightaway.

Overnight process?

I seem to recall mine generally haven't shown until the day after, possibly due to an overnight process being required to refresh the list.

Immediate

I always thought it was overnight to allow for processing, but I entered a SA code this morning and was able to look up the client an hour later.

Mmmm ...

I suspect that the only thing working faster is HMRC's computer system.  After all, registering an agent who has input the authorisation code which their system has generated requires no intervention from humans.

Or perhaps Esther really is going mad because she is one of those blacklisted agents whom HMRC will not allow to self-serve by refusing them a Unique Agent Reference!  ;¬)

Blacklisted me???  Never!!! I

Blacklisted me???  Never!!! I'm a good girl  ;)

However one code entered a few moments ago is available in my list already but four entered this morning are not showing yet.  It's all so inconsistent, feels like I've been stop / starting all day today.

Immediacy is the exception rather than the norm in my experience. Usually it takes until the next day for clients to show up but sometimes they somehow show up immediately.

4 days!!!

I was starting to get paranoid when one of the authorisation codes entered still hasn't resulted in my client appearing in the list so I phoned HMRC and was told that most services are overnight (PAYE, VAT, SA) but Corporation Tax can take up to 4 days!

At least I know I'm not mad (in this circumstance at least ;)
