Evening,
I am the majority shareholder and Director of a small firm of accountants. Over the course of the last 8 months or so, the business has grown rapidly. I have begun the process of applying for a mortgage. However, given that I am more than 50% shareholder, I need an accountant's certificate for the mortgage company. Obviously we prepare our own year end accounts, so certifying our own figures is not going to help! How could go about sourcing an external accountant to certify the accounts?
Thanks in advance.

Tricky
I was able to certify my own for my mortgage
If they insist on it being a third party then your only option is to pay an external accountant. However, they will wan to check the backup for the figures before signing them off, so it could be quite expensive for you
Your alternate
Presumably you abide by the normal professional rule of having an alternate. Would they not be suitable? And if not, why are they your alternate?
Years ago
(Pre sa) Mrs innkeeper and I were moving. Former building society ( now part of a bank) that we all own asked me for audited accounts. I pointed out to them that firstly I did not legally need an audit and secondly why should I pay for something that I was able to do myself. I did have to go up the food chain to get them to see sense. I would be inclined to do the same now as presumably the jobs worth is merely box ticking. The sa 302 route seems a good suggestion but I think I would need that confirmed first. Are you using a broker ? A decent one should be able to help you through this.
SA302 forms by fax
When I 'phoned for an SA302 form for a client last week it arrived within 30 minutes.
Only one problem (as HMRC kindly did forewarn me about) for security reasons if sent by fax HMRC cross out the UTR "for security reasons" and consequently some lenders do no accept such SA302 forms. Unfortunately my client's lender rejected the by fax SA302 for this very reason, so waiting for the one by post.
