HMRC Agent client list

HMRC Agent client list

Didn't find your answer?

Hello

I have finally left full time employment and have just finished my first week on my own.

I am trying to view my agent client list on the HMRC website and obtained the agent codes a few months ago so since then I have been submitting 64-8's with the code on. Last week I got round to registering online and have today entered the activation codes for self ass/CT and PAYE. However, although there is one client appearing for self assessment, there should also be 4 others under CT but there aren't any.

Also, last week when registering online I enrolled for the VAT for agents and it generated an agent code and said it may take 24 hours to appear on my agent list. Its still not there so I did it again (getting a different code). I suppose I will just wait to see if this appears in the list early next week.

I wondered whether anyone else had any issues when initially setting up with HMRC, as I have only just done the authorisation will they start to appear?

I rang the helpline but 'helpfully' there's no one there.

Thanks for any help

Sonya

24 hours

It takes 24 hours or so for the client to appear in your list once you have activated the code.  Sorry I can't remember for VAT, I thought all the agent codes arrived in the post.

Hello Sonya

You say you obtained the codes a few months ago. From memory, if you have not used the activation codes within 3 months of receiving them they become outdated and you need to register for new codes.

I recently applied for my agents codes and was told it takes 5 weeks to receive the activation code (SA and CT). 3 weeks waiting and I have a SA 12/13 TR for submitting (client is computer illiterate, so no use there) so I guess I need to just wait until i receive my activation codes to submit the return online.

As far as VAT goes, I did this last week. I signed up and received an agents code. You then need to wait 24 hours and go back in and use your agents code to obtain your activation code I don't know why its different for VAT??).

Hope you don't mind me asking, but how are you obtaining new clients? I am finding any new leads come from telesales (which I am doing myself).

Hi Nicks9991

I've just checked this morning and most of the clients are on, maybe they are still processing the missing 2 - although the VAT still isnt appearing.

Currently, the few clients I have (I've only just finished week 1) were either signed up before I finished my employment (friends) or word of mouth and social media, I have got a potential client I am going to see tmrw who contacted me on linkedin and another one to see from facebook. Maybe its just beginners luck, but I do think that a strong presence (without being too in your face) on linkedin/facebook/twitter does seem to work. Maybe we should have this conversation again in 6 months to see if I'm still as confident and up beat about it all!

Gateway

You may need to visit the Gov Gateway and assign the clients to you.

Hello Sonya,

I received my Gov Activation Code today, so I need to correct my previous comment slightly. After you have obtained your agent code, you then need to wait 24 hours and go back into the webpage and request an Activation Code for VAT. This then arrives in the post (as it did for me today) and you then have to go back onto the webpage and input the Activation Code. Hopefully thats it.

Anyway, I am also going to see a potential new client tomorrow, my third client (I started at the beginning of the month). My first was a family refferal, but the next one and this guy tomorrow are the result of telesales - I conduct each day.

Have you tried advertising on Facebook?

Good luck with your prospect tomorrow. PM me if you want to swap some more ideas???

All the best

Nick
