How to delete a comment?

Didn't find your answer?

If we make a comment on a thread which we subsequently realise is irrelevant and unneccessary, is there a way to delete it?

No

As far as I am aware, you can only edit both heading and content - so, change the heading to "Oops!" and delete the content.

Seems you can only edit

Seems you can't delete, but you could edit your comment away and replace it with a picture of a puppy?

Interesting....

Has mwngiol edited his original post and he does think we all suck, and thanks to the fine work of I'm sorry....he has been caught out, or will this new  terrific sport go viral.

What I do for a giggle sometimes is, in a long email conversation, change the text that gets added in when you reply, once it is off screen, then a few emails later point it out.  It's then appeared in so many of your emails it takes them a while to spot when you did it.

That's a terriffic idea, especially if you're involved in legals with your correspondent. Makes it doubly hard for anyone on the other side further up the food chain (experts, solicitor, barrister) to make any sense of reviewing correspondence.

My old law lecturer had an old chestnut of a tale, featuring himself as the protagonist, in which prior to signing a (paper) contract with Everest Windows he simply deleted a number of key words. So "Everest are not responsible for any damage due to etc etc" became "Everest are responsible for any damage..." after he had deleted the word "not". The Everest salesman had not noticed the deletions in the smallprint, and neither did their admin staff, so the amended clauses stood and our hero won his case.

School trips

We are moving off topic but i used to amend the "permission slips" when one of the junior Democratus siblings was going on a school trip. I would delete the bit stating that i was aware of the School Insurance policy.

Noone ever noticed and noone ever was refused the trip.
