How do solicitors reference their correspondence

How do solicitors reference their correspondence

Didn't find your answer?

I know this is an accounting forum but am interested as to how solicitors reference their correspondence. I always wonder if I use the right naming convention when filing correpsondence and work papers. Solicitors have an unusual convention which I can't seem to figure out. For example, solcitor sends me an email about a mutual client and the reference is  [BW-Live.AED5264460]. There's also another law firm which use the same BW-Live1234678, does anyone know the logic behind these references?

One I've seen

I've seen the same convention from solicitors. The 'BW' in that case was the initials of the name of the solicitors, e.g. BROWN WITHERSPOON

Not sure about the rest however the same format as you describe. I would assume it is a particular contact management system they are using that suggests this formatting.
