How do you deal with people who give you referrals but want a commission in return. what would you offer?
One person is offering a big referral but wants me to work with this wife on it. He is a friend and his wife works for a practice, but I am not sure how this will work
any advice?

Do you
know his wife well, or at all?
Do you know you could work with her?
As you said, in your intro, you're fairly new to practice. In that case, be careful and don't be too ready to jump from the frying pan into what could be an inferno.
As a new starter to this profession a big case, doesn't necessarily represent a good one.
Whilst I'm not saying that this is all doom and gloom I would think carefully. If you don't take the case, on the terms offered presumably, it's off elsewhere? That's life I'm afraid.
I've been really lucky, in my 30 years of practice; all of the business has come from referrals and I've never paid anyone a commission. I've treated those who have referred well, in terms of their fees and built up considerable "goodwill" in the process.
