How does one carry back a loss for refund of CT?

How does one carry back a loss for refund of CT?

Didn't find your answer?

Hopefully a quicky! I've filed online the CT600 for the accounts year in question and filled it in to carry back the whole loss to the previous year. Will HMRC automatically allocate it to the previous year, amend the previous return and issue a refund to my client? Or do I have to redo the previous year's CT600 on the system? Or does it get more complicated than that?

Thanks for your help.

No you do not need to amend the previous year's return.  Did you correctly completed the current year return stating that a repayment is due for an earlier period on page 1?  Check you have entered the bank details and call HMRC to check.  I had one last month when it was done automatically.

Hi Matrix

agreed BUT you can still amend the CT600 if you wish cant you , with all this all singing and dancing software it takes me a minute to do

Thanks Matrix. Carnmore misses the point - if I don't need to why would I amend the previous year's return even it does only take Speedy Gonzalez "a minute".
