Information request for clients

Information request for clients

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

I am a chartered accountant and recently got my practising certificate and PII so that I can take on some client work as a sole practitioner. I still have a full-time job working for a large firm of accountants but my aim is to eventually give that up once I have enough income from my sole practitioner business.

Anyway, I have just submitted 2013/14 self-assessment tax returns for the handful of clients that I currently have and I would like to improve the "information request" process next year so that it becomes more efficient.

Do you have any suggestions of what to include on the information request? What information should I ask for and what documents should I request? When is the best time to send out this request? Is there a template you use which you would kindly share?

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regard

Mo

You have
"so that I can take on some client work as a sole practitioner. I still have a full-time job working for a large firm of accountants"

You have a very accommodating employer! I'm sure most large firms would have employment contracts absolutely forbidding competing activities!

You have to start somewhere! Anyway the firm that I work for service large multinationals and not the kind of clients I will be targeting.

Dont say
Don't say you are a chartered accountant on this site. You only get sarcastic infantile answers from those jealous of your achievements like the one above.

I thought Julie.Severn's reply to a very similar question you raised was very comprehensive. Just follow that if you are unsure.
