Client, who charges for professional services, has become very busy, and is finding his current manual system for identifying who owes him what. He would like some form of invoicing package which can deal with payments in advance and in instalments. He is not interested in the package doing any more than giving him a list of invoices issued, payments received, and a list of who owes him money at any given time.
I am aware that many packages, cloud based or otherwise allow invoicing, but would appreciate comments as to whether:
1. There are any good invoicing only packages, ideally with some sort of support.
2. Anyone has clients who have used packages only for the invoicing function.
Any package would need to be able to have opening balances for individual clients entered, some of whom will be in credit.
Any suggestions from anyone who uses such packages, especially for invoicing only, or who have clients who do, would be appreciated. I know everyone, including myself is very busy at this time of year.

Use this software. I have been using it for 3 years and it's just superb. You can email me if you need help with setup. http://www.quickfile.co.uk/
I don't know what to say. But it is quite strange to see that when you really want to share a good experience with others people become suspicious about you. What is wrong with offering help. Can we just star learning trusting each others.
Tell us more pls
Hi
What software does this work with?
Will it capture information to feed into sage, xero etc?
Thank

Quickfile
I was also going to suggest this - I have a client who uses this for invoicing purposes only. It can be set up to send automatic reminders to the customers. It also shows you when the customer has opened and looked at the invoice so you can be sure that the paperwork has been received.
It is actually a full bookkeeping package so would cope with opening balances etc. Would also be quite easy to write the closing balances in (if you are still doing this manually) at the year end to give you a complete TB to prepare accounts from.
Invoice 2 Go
Used this for a while - very good. Invoice 2 go.
Easy to set up and also use from tablet/phone etc which was handy.
Invoice software - cloud based
I am looking at a system that raises invoices only.
One solution I investigated is "Invoice Machine" I am not using it yet, but it is a strong contender.
Low cost, no thrills, but should do all you need.
QuickBooks Pro
I suggest your client has a look at QuickBooks Pro Desktop - £113 (incl VAT) download from Amazon. It permits forward dated invoices, due dates determined by customer, memorised repeat invoices - for subscription like products invoiced on monthly, weekly, annually, quarterly basis, E-mailed invoices and statements. It is a complete accounting package so maintains ledgers, trial balances etc. and will supporting online VAT filing and (for a monthly charge) can also include payroll and auto-enrolment requirements. It also links directly to Excel and Word as appropriate.
I use it for an estate agent / property management company charging rents and service charges to multiple tenants, where it gives not only good reports on payments due (some are in advance and some in arrears) but also records costs incurred for onward recharge, their invoicing, commission payments due, and profitability by property.
The advantage over other packages is that it is designed for small owner managed business rather than accountants and hence operation is designed to be intuitive by task and changes deletions and corrections are handled very simply.
There is an online version which works on most on handheld devices but that is charged on a monthly rental basis and not by the one off payment for a download or disc for the p.c. desktop version.
