Job Description

Job Description

Didn't find your answer?

This is triggered by an excellent response on my Staff Management blog post.

I am looking for a job description for a first member of staff I have taken on. Her job is admin, bookeeping, simple tax returns, sole trader accs and simple limited company accounts.

She is AAT qualified.

I will adapt this JD.

Can anyone care to Share JD? If so please email me at [email protected]

Thanks

What is the purpose?

I would be wary of giving your only staff member an overly presecriptive job description at this point. The last thing you will need mid January is "that's not in my job description".

However, that said it seems unusual to expect a qualified AAT who you seem require to do productive work at a reasonably high level, to also do the admin.

I am not saying that she should not help out as needed but it does not sound the most efficient use of resources.

Admin work

It doesn't seem efficient use of resources for an accountant to be doing admin work either.

Maybe a good temporary solution would be to split the admin work between you, until such time that you can take on a part-time or full-time admin person?

.

I refer to my no.2 as my "assistant".

She refers to herself as "slave"

Works for us, job description being "assist boss in running accounting practice".

Email and link does it

Thanks for the response.

I received a helpful email from someone on this topic. I am not mentioning the name since I have not asked the person concerned.

The email plus the following link I found through Google search does it.

I will talk about how I will approch this matter in my blog.

They will be lucky

In the link you posted, that firm might as well add "and is required to be able to dispense gold bricks from their posterior on demand".

I would not base your own practice around this model.
