Lacking a clear vision

Lacking a clear vision

Didn't find your answer?

As most will know it is important to have a very clear vision  to take the business in the direction the owner wants.

This is where I am failing in a big way. I change my mind from day to day and depending on what comes through the door/email/calls in terms of new clients. In the main I do not turn business away. My change of mind is over not taking low fee tax returns to not taking on over complicated work that would be just too time consuming plus I have doubts whether I would be able to do it. Basically I tend to take anything that comes through the door.

Apologies for rambling on. I would love to hear of other peoples experience/views on this.

  • Do you have a clear vision on the direction your practice is taking? Do you stick to your vision?
  • Do you turn business away?
  • How did you form your vision?

Depends how much time they will consume

I will take on virtually any client provided they do not want too much of my personal time, as I can always employ an additional team member to service their needs if we get too busy.

If I think a new client will take a fair amount of my own time, I am more selective, as there is only one of me to go round!

I am not sure that consttitutes a startegy as such, but its the way I operate!

I think this is really hard to do...

In the heat of battle and belive that you need to take a day away from the coal face every three months to talk with people who are able to understand what you are on about but are not in your business.

If you fancy being each others mentor and meeting up in the middle (say Birmingham) I'd be up for it!

Steve
