Late payroll submission on sage

Late payroll submission on sage

Didn't find your answer?

Hello,

I am helping a limited company with 1 director and no employees.

The director would like a retrospective wage to be submitted from April 2014. I am usong sage one payroll which allows payroll submissions monthly however the director would like a one off payment to be made now covering the entire period (apr-july).

Is it possible to do this? Or shall I submit retrospective monthly payroll / rti submissions starting April? If so will this incur any charges/penalties from HMRC for late paye / NI class 1 payments?

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Why not do what the client wants?

I don't understand your problem.  If the director would like a one-off payment in August covering 4 months of pay, why not do exactly that?  Assuming that the director is on a cumulative PAYE code, it will make no difference to his tax liability and assuming that Sage One can handle Director's NIC on an annual earnings period, it will make no difference to his NIC.

If nil RTI reports have not been submitted for the first 4 months, it does not matter because there are no penalties yet for late or non-filing and as no payments were due, there can be no penalties for late payment.  The August FPS will update the YTD figures.

Hi Euan,

Thank you very much for your response.

The director has been quite adamant on using a non-culmulative approach for calculating PAYE and NI for some reason though I've advised using the cumulative method. They want the calculations to assume an income of around £15k per year making irregular payments though I do not know how to do this.

I am going to select 'week 1/month 1' for their tax details and calculate NI per pay run.

I am unsure how to designate a certain period beyond 30 days to a pay run/payslips so I will process the irregular payment as a monthly payment and file nil reports for the months in-between payment months.

I will double check everything and need to do a lot more reading.

Thanks again Euan, you have provided me with great help on numerous occasions!

Best,
