A client did not make his second payment on 2013/14, due on 31 July 2014 as he was on holiday. On arrival back home they had received a HMRC letter dated 19th August 2014 headed ' Notice of warning of enforcement by taking control of goods' advising that unless the debt is paid, an authorised officer will take control of goods and they will sold at public auction.
Is this general HMRC practice? are they overstepping the mark?

It would be so much easier
If HMRC could just get the cash from your bank account directly without having to trouble you!
