LexisNexis

Didn't find your answer?

I've avoided buying from LexisNexis for some years, due to previous problems with unsolicited goods, instead buying via Amazon and Foyles. This year I was tempted by lower prices on the LexisNexis website and bought direct. I didn't set up an account and paid in advance by credit card. All went well and the goods were delivered smoothly enough. Problem is a couple of weeks later I received a second set, plus a bill.

I've e-mailed the company, but received no reply. Is this company really this bad, or am I just unlucky?

Also, with a view to next year, has anyone any suggestions for non LexisNexis alternatives to the Tolley Tax Annuals?

I also distrust this company

I had all sorts of problems particularly from a telesales person situated in their Belfast Office, but the managers didn't give a toss either.

Couldn't you buy Tolley Tax annuals direct from Amazon instead?

experience

I have had some experiences with them and also Wolters Kluwer (CCH). However, I managed to put my conditions clear and when I keep my correspondence by e-mail as I can use them as evidence in the worst case scenario. It was useful when they were not prepare to cancel or credit an invoice for books I did not receive and notified them at them time about. When the solicitors contacted me and explained the issue with them and the invoice was cancelled, otherwise I would have used my e-mails as evidence and they would have lost more. I buy very little from them too now. But when they send the annual subscription on certain books I do not pay them until I have received all of them, and I have made that clear to them and I do so when credit control contact me about the invoice. That puts everyone in their place.

If you have not ordered it, dispute it in writing, if they do not reply, it will be their problem. Send them another e-mail about it and save those e-mails.

Why not try

Bloomsbury Professional or FL Memo.

They are totally different but you may like one of them.

Bloomsbury unprofessional and FL Memo just as irritating

Bloomsbury regularly email me and even occasionally phone me. They got my contact details when the ATT used to send us their tax book each year.

I can't get them to stop emailing me.

FL Memo used to email me/call me and now post their stuff to me which isn't that good. I don't know where they got my contact details. I suspect it may have been from Aweb.

Only contact either of these jokers if you want lots of sales contact from them until the end of time. I am resolved never to spend any money or time with either.

What have you done to try to stop Bloomsbury from emailing you?

When Indicator and FL Memo merged I would get phone calls asking me to subscribe to books I always subscribed to. I explained that they should check their database before phoning me. The phone calls stopped.

What isn't very good about FL Memo books? I think the tax books are fantastic although I don't like the Accountancy and Personnel Books.
