Ltd Company for nursing

Ltd Company for nursing

Didn't find your answer?

I have got a new client who works as a nurse with an agency. She started in December but only told me in March. I have registered her for self employment. She has explained that what she wants to do it set up as a ltd co. All her colleagues do this.
Is anyone familiar with this and what are the ir35 implications? She works in different hospitals and can turn down work when it suits her. I am yet to see the contract though.

Nursing staff
They are commonly known as bank staff and can choose when & where to work. Usually they are employed by the agency though but since the right to holiday pay etc for agency employees, many agencies have pushed them into ltd companies to avoid paying it.
It wil avoid IR35 if they can work for multiple agencies or directly with hospitals, so yes, check any contracts available.

I am wondering if there are nurses reading this that could help. I want to become a self employed R.N caring for clients in their own homes. I did this for 9 years through an agency. Have any other nurses out the gone down this route?

OP, there are changes afoot for such agencies. Take a look at:
https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/ir35-public-sector-changes-e...

OP, if your nurse started in December but only told you in March, then presumably you mean December 2015 (and March 2016). So since March last year you have registered her for self-employment. Did you remember to file a tax return for her prior to 31st January this year?

Your assumptions on dates are wrong. A clue you missed was the date of the question.

Ha ha! Thanks Duncan, I completely missed the dates. It's not the first time I've joined in on a a three year old thread! I'd better not play Cluedo.
