Management Accounts

Management Accounts

Didn't find your answer?

Hello,

We currently use Digita for our year end accounts and management reports.  We currently take the information from sage, freeagent, wherever the client or we prepare the books and import the trial balance.  We use a standard report in Digita Accounts Production for the management accounts which all our clients seem to like.  We have edited the reports they do look good, we add all the usual notes you would expect from a full year end set of accounts and also graphs and analytical details you would want from a management point of view.  However since we have updated to Digita Advanced they do not support management accounts and we refuse to enter the data twice once in Accounts production standard and once in Accounts Production Advanced.  We are not looking to leave the whole accounting package but need some software that will assist with detailed, good looking management accounts. I know I could do it on excel but there must be a software provider who can take a TB and give a set of monthly / 1/4ly management accounts that can be easily tailored to show detailed P+L, Balance sheet, Notes and graphical analysis.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Import

Does the "lesser" Digita product have a CSV import functionality? That might be a way.

Import

Yes i can import into both products via .csv.

Only Advanced is FRS102 compliant.  I know it doesn't matter for management accounts but it would be nice to have the figures only be imported and worked on once. But if I have to import it twice (into the old software and then into the new), i thought i would look for a better management account solution. So if need be i could import the Trial balance to a new piece of software to produce management accounts and then import the TB from the management software into Advanced to prepare the financial accounts.  It is just strange to me that a software provider would drop management account formats out of its new program.

I know i could use the old version to prepare management accounts and them import a TB from that into the new one. It is just not that good with the formats on management accounts and the client does want the new management accounts to follow FRS102 so they are as close to financial accounts as possible, with added detail.

I know it is a long shot, just very annoyed that Digita have pulled all support for management accounts.  For an all in one software provider it doesn't seem to be all in one to me.

Managemen accounts

I use CCH accounts production for bookkeeping which leads straight into final accounts. I don't actually do any management accounts but I do know that there is a tab for this in the final accounts production screen, so maybe this will do what you want.

If you are going to import data into this new software, produce management accs and then export to csv (to then import into digita) then what's the difference between importing into old digita, working on it, exporting to csv then importing into new digita?

In fact at least the digita codes should be the same so less mapping - since you've said that you are happy with the existing management accs output.

The problem with using the import between old and new is the client wants the management accounts to follow the new standard so they look like his year end accounts. Which i understand i can see why he wants it.  The old version of Digita does not support frs102. So it would mean redoing all the formats.

Why Dont you

Do it in the source software like Xero and Freeagent and use their management reporting or a product like spotlight reporting as an add on to get you what you want.

That way any amends are dealt with in the source data so always matches.

Thanks

I will have a look at spotlight, it doesn't help with the current client as they are on sage 50 but for clients on FreeAgent and Xero it may be worth a look.
