Missing letter H

Missing letter H

Didn't find your answer?

I'm using a combination of Moneysoft and People's Pension.

I'm trying to upload a csv file and am getting the message "Letter H is missing from the first row of the file".

What does this mean and how can it be corrected ?

According

to guidance : http://thepeoplespension.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/3915a.1114-Ful...

"the header row - to identify the record as a header row - must be H in column A - at the very beginning of the file"

Thanks

At least you've identified what's wrong.  But I'm not sure how to amend it.

Well, when I say not sure, I mean no idea.

In a way ....

The thing I immediately latched on to is that the layout is shown as "The People's Pension" but that option isn't available to choose from the drop-down list.

I've not been able to get through to Moneysoft yet but I thought someone may have come across this before.

Pension provider

Under Pension Scheme Details, have you selected The People's Pension from the drop down list for the Provider Type?  I am not sure if this is the required field, but I don't know why it is there if it isn't required.

That said, the drop down list for Layout on the Generate Upload Files screens is a list of the .bac template files in your Moneysoft/Payroll Manager/Templates/AEPensions folders for Contributions or Enrolment.  You can play around with the templates if you are feeling confident - but don't tell Moneysoft!

Ah! I see now!

You are evidently trying to run an Enrolment file and I agree that there is no TPP layout option.  I think this must be a temporary problem and only Moneysoft can explain what you should do.

The nearest you will get to a TPP Enrolment layout is the NEST option which includes a H(eader) line, D(etail) lines for each member and a T(railer) line.  You might then have to open the .csv file it produces and edit it as required to include all the mandatory fields.

However, the easiest solution, of which Moneysoft may or may not approve, is to go to the template folders which I mentioned and copy "The People's Pension.bac" file from the Contributions to the Enrolment folder.  TPP will then appear as an option in the Enrolment Layout drop down list.  The TPP.bac file produces what TPP call a Full (FL) file - it includes every possible relevant data field.  That is not necessarily a problem because when you upload the file to the TPP website (preferably, in trial mode), you are asked to map the column headings (data fields) in your .csv file to the field names specified by TPP, so you can pick out just the mandatory fields.

Good luck!

General

Yes, I was using "General".  I'll try NEST and, if that doesn't work, the other 4 options.

TPP have excellent example files to help

PM me your email address and I'll forward the layout examples TPP emailed me - really helpful when I had to tweak the enrolment file.

Alternatively give TPP a ring and ask them to email you - they're extremely helpful.

I have one change I have to make each time I submit the contributions file but it's not significant.
