Moneysoft payroll

Moneysoft payroll

Didn't find your answer?

A clients payroll has disappeared from my moneysoft payroll software on my pc. However the clients files are backed up in the cloud but I don't know which one to restore from, there is a '.pay' file, a '.pfi' file, numerous '.pbu' files and numerous '.bk' files. Can anyone explain these different extensions and which one I should restore from?

The .pay is the last/current worked on payroll file. The .bk# ones are sequential "back-up" versions in date order from the last processing/changes (ie. .bk1 being the most recent and .bk5 being the oldest). So if you restore the .pay one that should give you what you need.

I think the others (.pfi and .pbu) are related to auto-enrolment.

Pbu and pfi
Pbu are backup files created when you manually run a backup. pfi seems a recent addition and I have no idea what it is except they seen to contain the same info as the file selection menu.
