When I do File/Open, I get a list of payroll files. So far, so good, they are all there.
The problem is that periodically the data displayed for each file is just the file name. I lose the content of all the other useful columns such as:
-Tax reference
-Last RTI
-Next RTI
etc.
Does anyone else have this problem? Support weren't able to solve the problem.

Me too
I also occasionally get the same problem, I usually have to open each company one by one before all the details appear again. Just assumed it was specific to me and has probably happened twice this year. Only have about 20 payrolls so it's not been a big problem, just a little frustrating.
Try the REFRESH button on the list of files screen, that can correct it. This usually happens when you are using payroll backup files to restore the data or switching between computers.
Failing that it could be data corruption in the main pay file. Back up all files, delete main pay default file and restore from back up
Hope that helps
p.s don't store the default pay file on your root drive (C) as this is where money soft usually defaults to on the first installation. We find this can cause all sorts of errors and data junk/overload
as far as I remember
Moneysoft is just one huge text file that you can edit with notepad - unless it has changed recently. You may be able to go in (good luck) and fix it.
I got this kind error once and what I did was to call the moneysoft and they gave me advice how to solve it.
their staff if very friendly and supportive.
@ abutalib
Yes I agree they are very good on the support usually but Red Leader has already said they support weren't able to resolve the problem.
Incidentally I store my data files in my C:\Dropbox\Moneysoft folder, I'll investigate to see if this is causing a problem.
Backup
It may be stable door and bolted horse but I make it a practice to back up frequently during the payroll (I use Flexipay) and at the end of payroll (pre-update) and after (post-update) and keep them as separate files. If you have a Gmail account you can use the G-Drive as off line storage. I recommend using the free encryption tool by Sophos if you do this and are using Moneysoft as the file is in plain text and readable in any text viewer.
It is not until you lose data that you realise what a good thing backing up is. Many people cannot be bothered but it only takes a few moments and can save hours/days/weeks in time and who knows how much money.
I recommend full disk imaging too, so that if your drive fails you can restore to a bare metal drive and be working again in a few minutes. I use Macrium Restore; there is a free version; well worth the time and effort. You can set this program to run automatically to back up the drive or files. What I like about it is is that you can 'mount' the image and access it as though it were just another drive; so if you only need to restore one file (or more) you can drag and drop.
I am not a salesman for any of the above but speaking from experience that I have no wish to repeat.
Refresh works for me but...........
it un-archives all files and it is such a pain to archive the ones I don't want to see.
I just open all the files in turn and all details re-appear.
same problem in dropbox
We have same problem, also in Dropbox. After my call to Moneysoft I was advised do not use Dropbox to store main files, only backups. Dropbox is still updating so files after every syncing appears as after backups, only with file name in the window. As we have over 200 employers we did not figure out anything better than change destination folder on this in my computer.
