That code is invalid, as you cannot take more than 50% of cash wages in tax. The same would be true of anything higher, so it is to be hoped that is an extreme anomaly.
I've had one the other way for 2 years running. Current one is whopping 7500L !!! It include a large pension contribution my client paid 3 years ago. I've told HMRC it was a one-off pension payment but they persist in including it.

Sounds like a nice cash flow advantage for your client if left as it is.
I can't remember if there is a risk of penalty for deliberate misstatement of content in a PAYE coding notice?
I.e. leaving too much allowances in when you know it is incorrect, or asking HMRC to include allowances in the code that are false?
I imagine there must be for the latter.
Presumably HMRC had incorrect information concerning salary/pension.
At least it's been corrected now.
