New Built in oven - allowable as repair?

New Built in oven - allowable as repair?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

My client lets a residential property.

He has replaced the oven as the old one broke down.

It is a built in oven rather than a standalone one and so I am wondering whetherit would qualify as a repair?

He doesn't qualify for W&T, and as the renewals basis has now ceased I was wondering if it would qualify as it is fitted into the building and not something that would be moved easily.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Just been on a course that covered this and the answer is yes.

Me too
I went on a course recently that covered this too. Yes, because it's a repair to the building (as the fitted kitchen is part of the building) it can be claimed.

The speaker suggested that photos before & after are taken to show it's an integrated appliance.

Yes - unless it's an "improvement".
