New PAYE agents phone line number..???.

New PAYE agents phone line number..???.

Didn't find your answer?

Just had the usual 20 minutes wait to get through on the 0300 200 3300 PAYE phone number and when I said I was an agent the assistant said 'wait a minute please' only to come back and say that there was now a new agent dedicated phone line number especially for PAYE.

Its 0300 200 3311

The May issue of Tax Adviser page 23 said that one of the members of the Working together committee was looking to gather evidence of its need - obviously she gathered enough evidence to make it happen?.

Who says the Working Together committees dont work?

As far as I am aware ...

0300 200 3311 has been the general number for the Agent Dedicated Line for individual's self-assessment and PAYE queries for some time.  What change has there been?

Yes ...

... individual PAYE

Agent Dedicated and Agent Priority LinesAgent Dedicated Line for personal Self Assessment or PAYE for individuals queries only

HMRC Taxes Contact Centres can deal with taxpayer-specific queries from authorised agents. (They can’t help you if you’re calling about employer queries .You must use the dedicated helplines for employers or Construction Industry Scheme.)*

By phone you can update or discuss your client's:

personal detailsemployment detailspersonal allowancesexpensespayment notificationsnotifications of benefits in kind, other earnings or incomeamendments to Self Assessment tax returnsrequest for repayments, reduce payments on account or collection of tax payable through a PAYE code

You can call the Contact Centre's Agent Dedicated Line on telephone: 0300 200 3311. This line is open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm and Saturday, 8am to 4pm. It's a good idea to use this helpline instead of the general number as it provides tax agents and advisers with a full and fast service.

 * for which you have to either shout banally at the voice recognition system or as I do keep pressing # until you get a person.

Or are you saying these queries are now covered?

Thats not what HMRC told me...

I asked and said isnt that the usual agents line and he said no - this was a new one specifically for PAYE - as the Tax Insider May issue said.

Obviously someone got it wrong!

Ah but..

It doesn't mean that they'll answer it! They'll just know that it's an agent they're ignoring :)
