New Trust and Form 64-8

New Trust and Form 64-8

Didn't find your answer?

One of my clients has just set up a new Trust.

It's been 12 years since we had a new Trust so can anyone out there confirm whether the 64-8 goes to Longbenton or to the Trust office at Nottingham

Thanks in advance for all comments

41g (Trust)

Have you already sent the 41g (trust) and received the UTR?  If not, I'd send both together to Nottingham.

Strictly, all 64-8s should go to Longbenton, but if you don't yet have a UTR, there's the risk that they wouldn't be able to find the trust on the system.

If you do have a UTR, it might be quicker to go for electronic client authorisation, as at least you know HMRC will have an up to date address, having advised them of it in the first place.

More help

The ICAEW worked with HMRC to develop this helpful guide as to where to send the form for what kind of client.  I find it very useful.
