I know charities can opt to omit limited/ltd from their name. By why would/would you not?

Omitting Limited
I think it's only companies limited by guarantee that can omit limited. The attraction is to show the charitable, rather than trading nature, of the entity.
I'm not aware of any norm re quorums. Charities Commission may have some guidance / expectation. I'm chair of a charity where the board comprises eight people, but the quorum is 3 - I think the founders set it up to be eminently flexible.
From a social perspective, I agree with the others in that omitting the "limited" from the end takes the edge off the idea its a company, and more a charity, although it would still be needed on the small print. More so when the idea of company may seem like it is a scam and `charity` is used as a front.

Agree with regard to name
A charitable gtee company I am on the board of has 13 directors and the quorum is eight present in person. As we only hold two board meetings a year and members come from all over the UK, to give flexibility to act urgently if necessary, the Articles also permit resolutions to be effected if there is 100% agreement in writing.
