Overnight business trip for self employed in general

Overnight business trip for self employed in...

Didn't find your answer?

Hi to all and thanks in advance,

This is not specific to a trade, but for a general idea that when a person is self employed and goes on a overnight business trip. What I have understood from HMRC website is that a reasonable subsistence expense is allowed. I also read somewhere that only dinner and breakfast would be allowed but not lunch. I'm slightly confused with this, please would anyone explain this to me.

Thanks

See HMRC guidance at BIM 37670

The HMRC guidance at BIM37670  and a few pages on either side explain the concepts quite well - see link at
