P60(substitute) v P60(Duplicate) and Sage Payroll

P60(substitute) v P60(Duplicate) and Sage Payroll

Didn't find your answer?

For some reason Sage does not produce a P60(Substitute) similar to Payroll Manager, but it does have something call P60(Duplicate).

Sage tell me the duplicate is for handing to someone who has lost the original. However, it seems identical to the Substitute and also the eP60 Sage produce which they say can only be emailed (the latter is only different in that it states it is an eP60).

Is there any legal reason a P60(Duplicate) cannot be handed to employees as the original P60?

HMRC

Unfortunately Sage do not produce a P60 substitute (probably cause they want you to buy their stationery).  You will need to order the free P60 from HMRC and print directly onto them.

Or, a workaround is to temporarily set up all employees with email addresses in Sage and then you can output eP60s to a pdf which can be emailed to client (global changes in Sage means this is easily done, and easily reverted; or you can do this on a back up copy)

I don't expect the fact the client will print off at his end rather than email to staff to be a problem.

Hopefully ...

... the P60 will die soon along with the tax return as it will be a completely pointless bit of paper.

Hopefully not ....

.... because I don't trust HMRC to "prepopulate" my tax return.

Or those of my clients.
