Package for sending mailshots

In the past I've always used MS Word to send mailings to clients but I've had a few problems with it recently and need to look at alternatives.

I have looked at Mail Chimp but not very keen on it - does anyone have a suggestion for a really easy to use system to send simple mailshots to clients. I really dont want anything fancy - just simple layout and quick and easy to use.
