Paper SATR

Paper SATR

Didn't find your answer?

Anybody know in what instances HMRC wont allow someone to file a Self Assessment tax return online?

I have a new client and HMRC are telling me she can only submit a paper tax return?

She's definitely not an MP but possibly previously security forces - does that mean it is not possible to submit an online return at all?

The most likely reason is that she is under a special arrangement (e.g. an IVA). HMRC won't normally tell you the reason in my experience, but I would expect the client to tell me, or I probably wouldn't act.

Judges

I believe certain judges also cannot submit online - again to do with security issues.

Relative
I do know of cases where someone who worked in the tax office (low level clerical) and her husband's tax return (sole trader) had to be sent to a specific person in the tax office.
Probably all different now as everything is on line.

I have a client in receipt of a pension who still has to file a paper return to that place in Wales.
