Partnership tax return software - recommendations?

Partnership tax return software - recommendations?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

Happy new year to you all and also happy January deadline party !

I have just taken on  two  partnership clients and both partnerships will be ceasing in the next tax year- 2015-2016

I am the agent for both and discover that I need commercial software to file online....

I don't want to take on any more partnerships in future . Can anyone recommend some software that will do the job (easily ! ) and not cost me an arm and a leg

Thanks

Sally

Taxfiler and TaxCalc

Will sell individual licences. I believe there are others, too, which will allow for a single, or small block, of licences.

Taxfiler
Can buy Taxfiler Solo (£10 + VAt pm) and that will cover up to 50 clients incl. partnerships.

You can stop using it (and paying for it) after returns are filed and everything will cost you £10 + VAT overall.

Or might like it and switch to using it for all clients like we did.

Andica does up to 5 Partnership Tax Returns for £19.75 + VAT.

We haven't used their partnership tax return software, but have used their Trust tax return software, which works very well.

HMRC site

Has a list of commercial software - you just need to trawl through to see which do one offs and how much they charge.

It's the same Partnership Tax Return you will be completing so assume there will be much of a muchness to them anyway.

Andica

I only have one partnership and always use Andica.

Cost for download of 1 Partnership - 1 User for 2014-15 is £17.94 inc Vat

So easy to use and if you do need it the following year it has facility to import client details etc so saves inputting it all again.

Also very easy to use.

Andica

Another vote for Andica, I used it about 4 - 5 years ago when I picked up two partnerships, and didn't really anticipate picking up any more. Easy enough to use and inexpensive as already highlighted.

you have a choice

Andica, Top Up from Absolute or Taxfiler. i have used all 3 in that order and Taxfiler is the best tho expensive for a one off so you wish to follow the advice above and get a pro licence and you will also be able to use it for CT and accounts if you wish , a game changer!

Expensive?

Why would you call a Taxfiler expensive for a one off job?

Surely Taxfiler Solo which covers up to 50 tax returns will cost OP just £10 + VAT pm to use.
And bearing in mind that:
•No minimum contract period and no setup fees

OP could sign up, prepare and file 2 Partnership tax returns and say it good bye if has no need to use it afterwards.
Thus keeping costs capped at 1 month only fee of £10 + VAT.

Or do I miss something in Taxfiler pricing/T&C?

yes you have missed something

if you check the pricing for a one off partnership return , and this is what this is (1 or 2) then the price is £30 per return. You are recommending  buy a monthly licence for £10pm or whatever and then to cancel after one month . We could all sign up and do our tax returns in january and then stop paying,  that to my mind is distasteful. I am a strong supporter of Taxfiler and i want to encourage them to keep on their continual improvement path.

At the end of the day the OP is an agent for the partnerships and Taxfiler offers an option of Agent account with no fixed contract.
IMHO there is nothing distasteful in the option to buy a monthly licence for £10pm and then to cancel after one month if the OP does not need it any more and intends not to use Taxfiler further. Who knows - maybe OP will like the software and decides to stay?

I remember to be reading that Taxfiler has some rules etc. for users who cancel account and then re-register within next 15 months or so. So don`t think there is an option of not paying.

I have just recently migrated from BTC to Taxfiler myself and already became a fan of the software and happy to pay monthly fees so they could finance improvements. I`m with you both hands on that.

But in OP`s case would still suggest that Solo Agent licence would be the most cost effective option.

Have a look at Quality Management Software (SA2000)
Upto a couple of years ago I too had only one partnership return to prepare and I found that this provider has excel based returns and is very reasonably priced.
You need to buy one licence per return current price seems about £13, with no ongoing commitment.

Thanks to all who replied

It's great to have such a full response . I would be uncomfortable just doing a month and cancelling so it looks like Andica for me

All best

Sally
