partnership utr

partnership utr

Didn't find your answer?

i have set up a partnership on the hmrc website, through the link "Register a partnership and nominated partner". does it come by post? or do they automatically update the hmrc partnership page once its issued?

Can someone advise how the hmrc issue the partnership utr? as that is now needed to file the partners' self assessment returns?

Letter to nominated partner

Time delay very big - registration on 30th May apparently will not be issued till 31 July.

Are you sure it is needed for partners returns?

What are the circumstances e.g.has a sole trader changed to a partnership and if so have you kept the same accounting date?

it is a new partnership which has been registered. the first returns due for the partnership and the 2 partners' first self assessment returns are for the year ending 05/04/2015.
can the 2 partners register for self assessment and complete their tax returns without the partnership utr?

Yes, it is needed for the partners' returns.

Personally, I'd recommend a 31 March/5 April year end if it's at all possible that there'll be changes in the partnership personnel in future.  Overlap relief can get complex and lead to the occasional odd result.

i did set the year end up as 05/04/2015 for the that reason. i am a bookkeeper and only asking here to help a friend avoid the costs of an accountant. the self assessment side is easy enough to do themselves without any professional assistance as it is a very simple income and expenditure based business (no assets held). he has followed the hmrc links to register his partnership but without the utr he can't file his individual tax returns. he has printed his sa400 ready to file the partnership return and is happy to the personal tax returns himself (for him and his wife).

he just doesnt have a utr number showing on his hmrc online partnership account - will this be posted to him? or will it just show up on his online partnership homepage once it has been issued?

Should get a letter.

Eventually.

Afraid he'll just have to wait for it.  Is there some hurry ?

thank you.

thank you.

no hurry, i am just a bit out of touch with the registration process. i just do the bookkeeping and produce p+ls and let the clients deal with the hmrc side so i avoid registering as an authorised agent and have no responsibility!
