paye and Bik - quick one

Sorry, I know it's probably simple but I don't normally get involved with paye (and hmrc call-centre continually too busy to answer!)

If employee starts receiving a BiK from April 2012, do we wait until end of the tax year to advise HMRC (and then in subsequent years tax code will be adjusted) or is some adjustment made straightaway?
