PAYE Control Visit

PAYE Control Visit

Didn't find your answer?

One of my payroll clients has a PAYE control visit next month.  It's been so long since the last one, that, on that occasion, I gave them a bundle of paper P11s to look at.

What will they expect to inspect nowadays ?

I'm using Moneysoft.  To give an idea of the scale of operation, the client has 40-50 employees at any one time - maybe a total of 60-65 different employees during a year.  Period under review will be November 2013-October 2014

Client's or your premises?

Assuming that you run the payroll for the client, I would contact the PAYE inspectors in advance and suggest that they come to your premises.  Mention that you use Moneysoft, with which they are probably familiar, and ask them what they would like to see.

The problem is that they will want to see a mixture of payroll records and client's records, bank statements, etc., to check what was actually paid.

Client's

No, it'll be a day out at the client's office.

To be honest, Euan, last time, they spent very little time on checking what was on the working sheets.

They were actually far more interested in looking through the accounting records to see if anything wasn't on them.
