PAYE REFUND

PAYE REFUND

Didn't find your answer?

Due to illness a client has overpaid PAYE of just over £150, the business has now ceased trading and the scheme had been closed down.
I have chased the Revenue today and after 45 minutes on hold I was informed that this would not be looked at until the 08/01/2016.
This is due to staffing issues.
Can anyone beat this?
Steve

A Client of mine incorrectly registered for PAYE. They had wanted to register as a contractor only. This was in November 14. The error came to light around Feb 15 and this is when I first tried to contact HMRC to see if the scheme could be changed.

HMRC seemed pretty helpful at first until they realised I didn't have a 64-8 in place for paye (I had never sent one as they were not supposed to be on the scheme). They advised the scheme could easily be changed and that I should just get the client to call and make the request.

My client then called HMRC and made the request and was told someone would call him back within 48 hours, this was the back end of March 15. Client still had not heard anything by mid April so contact HMRC again and was this time told the scheme could not be changed and that no one will of told him it could be as its impossible.

At this point I sent off a 64-8. I contact HMRC mid May and was told the scheme could in fact be changed and I would be called back asap. Over a week went by and still no call. I rang HMRC again and was advised that there is a note on the file to change the scheme but this will not happen until December 2015 and someone would call me back then.

Same here

I've just chased up a PAYE refund due to maternity pay and after hanging on for 30 mins I finally got through. The written request went in on the 8th April 2015. I've also been told that due to a backlog in that department the estimated date for a repayment is also the 8th Jan 2016. The refund is £4.8k. I can understand these things need checking out but 9 months. Has anyone any idea how I could get this speeded up because the client needs the money back because they've already paid it out.
