I am reposting this question as I posted the other day, but the client has now given me better information on the query.
My client wishes to make a cash gift to her children's nanny (I believe the nanny is Spanish), to assist with paying the nanny's costs for extending her residency in the UK. She has also suggested the possibility of paying a solicitor's bill directly instead of a cash gift.
Is there any possibility that such a gift or payment could be tax free, given that the nanny will need to extend her residency in order to continue working for my client.
Many thanks.

Please excuse my ignorance
... but why would a Spanish nanny have to pay a solicitor to extend her residency in the UK?
The nanny might be applying for permanent residency. I believe the application form is nearly 100 pages long. It might be that the nanny sees the cost of a solicitor worth it.
