PAYING PAYE QUARTERLY

PAYING PAYE QUARTERLY

Didn't find your answer?

mental block and searching HM website and cant find the answer!!

If a client was paying PAYE monthly but wants to move to quarterly (under limits so OK) what action do we need to take.

There use to  be a from  you filled in and sent off (althought I cant remember what the form was)- use to be simply. How do we notify HM without having to hang on the phone for hours.

are you using HMRC's own RTI wage program....???

if so, would imagine you could simply go into system and change existing set-up to suit your new planned PAYE schedule

if you are using RTI then :-

open RTI and select company

select 'manage employee'

click relevant employee

click employment detail

then go to 'red' change employee detail  on RH side

go to pay frequency

select quarterly

go through procedure to close and return to first page

you will still obviously need to report monthly....which you were already doing anyway

but this reportage will now be done by reporting  2 x EPS months....and then your 3rd report(quarterly) will be a normal FPS reportage

so you are basically reporting the same monthly frequency but simply reporting different circumstances and payment values

I'm sure this is the procedure you are looking for

just to be on top of things.....I would give your respective PAYE offices a call and explain .your change in circumstances and what you have done to resolve..

take care

It used to be form P31

Form P31 dates back to pre-RTI days and, in my opinion, is effectively redundant as HMRC know what monthly libilities are and should not chase less-than-£1500 per month liabilities.

There is an exception, however.  those employers who owe CIS deductions to HMRC have to pay monthly rather than quarterly.

Now on .gov

Current instructions from HMRC are that you must ring them to advise that you are paying quarterly (though this may have changed since the original post)

If I don't ring

Hello, anyone know what happens if I begin paying PAYE quarterly (sub-£1500 pm) but don't call HMRC to advise?

I've done exactly that for myself and no probs but I'm about to advise a raft of client's to change to quarterly and 1. at the moment NO ONE seems able to get through to Employers Helpline and 2. I just wonder if it's really necessary?!

Thanks
