Payment on account reminders

Payment on account reminders

Didn't find your answer?

Does anyone know if HMRC are to issue reminders for the payment of the 2nd instalment for 2014/15 tax due on 31 July 2015, or are we going to have to do this job for them now, and of course tell our clients how to make the payment

It wouldn't matter how many reminders HMRC sent we have to remind clients and get the payment sorted for them anyway.

Hard to believe that SA has been with us over 17 years and the system is still a total mystery to most clients even those who didn't know any other!

I doubt it

I see from my own 'Your Tax Account' (beta version) that the 31st July 2015 payment due is clearly shown (very clearly as it is in the font size favoured by Gov.UK).  It also invites me to complete my '2014 to 2015 tax return', which suggests that it is also serving as a substitute for the paper SA316 Notice to File.

I suspect that almost all communications from HMRC will be online from now on.

If this is substitute SA316

Then how do clients, or me for that matter know they have to file a tax return?

Most of my clients have no online access to their self assessment account - have they been issued a paper notice to file?  I log on only to complete a tax return once a year - will this be a valid penalty excuse?  Just to note I have received no Notice to File a 14/15 return even though HMRC say I must do one - nor have I received an email or other communication telling me to do so!
