Previous accountant filed dormant accounts in error

Previous accountant filed dormant accounts in...

Didn't find your answer?

Previous accountant filed dormant accounts for shortened accounting period however this looks like it is going to cause a problem with their compliance (IFA) as when they went through all of the checks etc and were appointed on the panels it specifically stated the company needs to be active.  There was no income for that period but there were expenses so will filing an amended set of abbreviated accounts be ok to remove the [dormant] tag on Companies House webcheck?

Thanks

Amending accounts?

Can you file amending accounts?

I'd give it a go

Unless there's anything on Peter's link that specifically precludes it, I'd file amending accounts showing the expenses.

Just to ramble a bit: I forced an accountant to do this a few years ago where he'd filed the first two year's accounts as dormant but I knew that there had been transactions.  He (and the client - an ex-client of mine) kicked up a fuss and so Companies House asked for proof and I sent them a copy of the cheque the company had paid me a month after incorporation.  Was a rare sweet moment.

Thank you both, will give it a go as it could potentially land the client in hot water.
