Problems with restoring companies on Sage 2015

Problems with restoring companies on Sage 2015

Didn't find your answer?

Dear AW

I have several clients who use Sage 50, and to perform my duties to them I use Sage to open their files look at the data to analyse for tax.  I don't post transactions or adjustments, it's just for ease of analysis.

I have a single company license, and consistent with other accountants and bookkeepers I'm trying to open up the files backed up by the clients.

First company worked fine.  However, I can now not restore other companies over the top.  I get an error saying:

"You are using version 2015 of Sage Accounts, but the data you are trying to use appears to be from a later version"

Clearly this is not the case as I'm using the most recent version of Sage.

Is this Sage locking down my installation to the first company I've loaded, or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Michael

Updates?

Have clients run an update / patch that you don't have?

Check the Sage message

I would check what the SAGE prompt is saying exactly, in the past I have had issues where the data that I am trying to import was from Sage 2009 but my SAGE being 2013 would not accept it. And the screen gave me the message you are trying to import data from an unsupported version of SAGE.

It may be that your client's version is too old. Ask them to check via the Help and About prompt on their SAGE what their version is. If, is a very old version try to ask them to upgrade and then reimport the data

Worth checking

Thanks guys ... I'm going to check with a few of the clients.

Although I've checked every back up I have of all of them and all are coming up with the same message.  Message is exactly as stated above in the quotation marks.
