Has anyone received a threatening letter from Pitmans Solicitors threatening Court Action for failing to renew PTP tax return preparation software?

Always read the small print
I guess if you have a solicitors letter it cannot be the first you have heard of this? I seem to remember renewal was automatic unless you cancelled in time. I got a free piece of software for 2012 and an email late in 2012 about renewal. Its easy to ignore but on reading the small print I needed to cancel and it took a while to do so.
Unusual for PTP?
I have used PTP for many years and always found them to be honest, professional and helpful.
I cannot believe that the solicitors letter is the first you have heard of the matter.
Automatic Renewal
I had a run-in with them earlier this year, when they took my DD out a month early (in my eyes, the small print was confusing to say the least). I got the bank to recall the DD and after a couple of strongly worded letters on both sides, I was "released from any contractual obligations" I may, or may not, have had with them. Moved to BTC and wondered why I stayed with PTP for so long. There was another thread about PTP back in March(?) time.
Like parent like child?
Have you not noticed that PTP are adopting more and more of Iris business & sales practices?
