I was under the impression that you could only get them if you completed a tax return? Ive had a mortgage broker tell me that you can get them if you are employed but thought I would check here rather than get the director to ring up and wait an hour to get through.
Thanks

I doubt it.
The SA302 is the product of the return. You might get a P800T (year end PAYE rec calculation) but no doubt because it doesn't say SA302 that will not suffice, and would not, after all, include all income.
But if the Director
completed a tax return, for only his employment income, then yes he could get an SA302.
Yes it does happen.
Perhaps ...
... he is thinking of a P800T? I wonder if you can get them issued on request. Never tried that.

Tax summary?
Maybe he is thinking of the new Tax Summaries being issued? These are being sent to people under PAYE.
Had the same last year
A director's wife had to register herself for SA just to be able to do a tax return, just to be able to then get a SA302 for their joint mortgage application.
The amusing thing was that HMRC refused to register her because the reason she gave on the application was that she needed a SA302 for a mortgage application. Then on trying to work out how to register her she asked, "does it matter that I'm a director?", Turns out that the company she works 2 days a week for made her a director 5 years ago, she couldn't remember why!
