QuickBooks 2014

QuickBooks 2014

Didn't find your answer?

I’ve upgraded to QuickBooks 2014 from QuickBooks 2013.

Now there are no previous data files on the list of recent companies.

I’ve found the data files I want but when I try to update them they take a backup and then do nothing more.

I phoned technical support but I only get a recorded message.

I tried restoring the backups which worked but that seems a ridiculous way of doing it!

Upgrading

Peter,

I wouldn't expect my list of companies to populate until I had opened each one in 2014.

We simply start 2014 open the data file and it prompts for the upgrade process, once opened it remains in our list of files (different users will have different lists).  However, it is a little disappointing that you have to upgrade files individually rather than just select en-masse.

We've had no issues with backups or upgrading (albeit from 2012 to 2014).  To get them into 2014 I would expect the software to ask you to make a backup first and then upgrade, just in case you had issues with 2014 (it is still release 1 and although I've not come across any major concerns I'm always reluctant to upgrade immediately).

As for technical support, I'm surprised you get a recorded message, unless it's the one that states "We're busy at the moment, but we will get to you" or similar.  Admittedly last week I did have some long wait times but always got through.

Finally, we didn't upgrade from 2012 to 2013 becuase I hated the new layout and it is expensive to upgrade each year.  However I've bitten the bullet with 2014, I particularly like the "attached documents", although they haven't though it through properly.

Good luck,

Chris
