Quickbooks Online ?

Quickbooks Online ?

Didn't find your answer?

I saw a TV advert yesterday for QB Online. That's something in itself ! But never having been a QB fan or user I was wondering if this product is any good. If it's on the box I'm sure to get asked about it soon.

Simple

My wife is a bookkeeper and looked into this for a client a few months ago.  Her verdict was that the online system was a 'dumbed down' version of the desktop version.  The eventual nail in the coffin was that the client was already using the desktop version and there was no way to import the data into the online version.

Crikey !

That's unforgiveable ! I continue to be dumbfounded by the arrogance of the big players in this market. Dinosaurs looking at the comet in the sky comes to mind.

Avoid

QuickBooks and Sage online solutions are both very poor.

Even some of the products that are complimented on here have some very bad "features".

QBO isn't meant to REPLACE QB Desktop

HI everyone,

I saw your comments above wanted to add some colour commentary about the purpose and audience for QuickBooks Online.  QuickBooks online was not designed to completely replace QuickBooks desktop, and we encourage interested accountants to evaluate whether the online or desktop version is the right solution for a given client based on the nature of their business. Our research shows that the types of businesses that are attracted to an online solution are not always the same businesses who need/want a desktop solution.  So we have designed QBO and QB Desktop versions with that in mind.

In addition, there is the issue of the cloud itself....You probably know that you have to create/code things differently to work over the web, so you can't just throw the desktop version up there and expect it to work well over the internet.  In fact, there are some clients for whom a cloud solution would be absolutely the wrong experience - any client with heavy inventory, or lots of transactions will probably not be happy with the speed of ANY cloud solution due to the number of calls the software will have to make between the cloud servers and the desktop computer or mobile device the user is using to access the data.

At Intuit, we are proud to offer a suite of Financial Management solutions that cover a wide range of small business needs. For example, if your client is a service-based sole-proprietor who values the convenience of anywhere, anytime online access – then QuickBooks Online is a great choice.  On the other hand, as stated earlier, if they are in a heavy retail environment, or with a lot of stock control, then QuickBooks Online would not be a good choice for that customer.

QuickBooks Online customers in particular are very often the types of businesses who would otherwise use nothing at all to manage their finances, and ultimately end up providing shoeboxes full of disorganised documents or inconsistent excel spreadsheets to their accountants.  Offering a feature-rich product to these customers is overkill and can very easily scare them away from taking a small step toward their own “financial fitness”.  Whereas a focused, lean, low-cost product aimed simply at keeping them organized can only help the business owner and their accountant.  So that is what we are delivering on with QuickBooks Online.

Today, there are in excess of  300K small business owners happily using QuickBooks Online to manage their business finances worldwide. And they are happily engaging with their accountants via the free Accountant User provided with every QuickBooks Online company account..

I hope this is helpful - and I absolutely promise we are not coming from a position of arrogance and more importantly, we welcome your feedback.
